It started with a wish.
During a season of very scarce prey, everything changed. Starclan had granted Twistedstar, leader of Thunderclan, one wish as a reward for renewing Shadowclan's faith in their warrior ancestors. Shadowclan had stopped believing because there was hardly enough food to feed a full-grown cat. They had believed that Starclan had abandoned them. The only prey that could be found was thin and sickly. No one knew where the food was going. We only knew that cats were dying because of it. They contacted him during a dream the night before the next Gathering.
Everyone looked at Twistedstar as a brave, courageous, and loyal hero. But what he did that night changed the way we looked at him forever. What was his wish? To be a twoleg for an entire month. Of course, the Starclan cats refused. But Twistedstar was determined to get his way. He believed that if we just gave the twolegs a chance, we would see that they weren’t as bad as they seemed. He thought they would welcome us into their strange world like we had been a part of it all along. He thought the twolegs would accept us for what we are- warrior cats. Twistedstar thought they could help us in our time of need.
During his dream in which Starclan had offered him a wish, Twistedstar lashed out at one of them. Her name was Silentpaw. She had been an apprentice of Thunderclan that was killed by a twoleg monster many seasons before then. Twistedstar violently attacked her, which resulted in her death. Again. We never knew you could kill a cat’s spirit. We do now. After Silentpaw was killed, the Starclan cats abruptly ended Twistedstar’s dream. They sent a dream to Thunderclan’s Medicine Cat, Moonsong, who just happened to be Silentpaw’s sister. Starclan told Moonsong what had happened, and told her what was going to happen to the clan cats. As punishment for Twistedstar’s actions, the entire forest would suffer. He would get his wish, so that Silentpaw’s death would not have been for nothing.
